What does your ramp-up cost?
Sales ramp-up calculator: enter your team’s data and estimate what it costs for a new sales rep to become productive, and how much you would recover by shortening it.
How it’s calculated
The calculator uses two formulas. The first defines when a sales rep becomes productive; the second, what the time until then costs.
Want to know how long a new sales rep takes depending on their role and industry? We explain it in how long a new sales rep really takes to become productive.
How to reduce ramp-up
- Practise from the first week. New sales reps rehearse the usual conversations before having them with customers.
- Measure what they do, not just what they know. Feedback by skill after every conversation, comparable with the rest of the team.
- Support where it’s needed. Managers spend their time on what each person needs to reinforce.
Shorten ramp-up with practice, not more theory.
Your new sales reps practise by voice with an AI avatar and reach their first call with the conversation rehearsed.
Frequently asked questions
What is a sales rep’s ramp-up?
It is the time between a sales rep joining and consistently performing at the expected level. During that period the company pays a full salary for lower productivity.
How is the cost of ramp-up calculated?
By multiplying the monthly salary by the months of ramp-up and by the share of productivity that is missing (1 minus the average productivity reached in that period). The calculator does it for the whole team.
How do you reduce ramp-up?
With practice from the first week: new sales reps rehearse the usual conversations before having them with real customers and get feedback after each one.
Now you know what it costs.
Now, shorten it.
